The Hot Slugger is one of those guns you pick up and instantly know it’s going to stay in your loadout for a while. It’s a legendary Torgue shotgun built for fire-heavy builds, but it’s not your usual point-and-shoot. Instead, it fires sticky incendiary slugs that latch onto enemies. The fun part? Reload or swap weapons and every slug you’ve stuck explodes at once, setting off a huge fire nova that can wipe mobs or chunk down bosses fast.
If you’re chasing a top-tier version, you’ll need to farm its dedicated source – and that means spending some time with Gragnok the Incinerator. If you’re already deep into farming Borderlands 4 Cash, this is one worth adding to your list.
Gragnok hangs out on Xylos, a volcanic planet that’s all smoke, lava flows, and narrow rock paths. You’ll find him in the Cinder-Vein Mines, right at the end of the region. Getting there isn’t too bad – just finish the planet’s main story missions and you’ll unlock the arena as a repeatable fight. The closest fast travel point is Cinder-Vein Ascent, and from there it’s a short sprint to his lair. That makes it perfect for quick reset farming runs without wasting time trekking across the map.
The fight itself can catch you off guard if you go in with the wrong gear. Gragnok’s covered in heavy armour and swings around a flamethrower like it’s an extension of his arm. He’s also resistant to fire damage, so your Hot Slugger won’t help much until you strip his armour. Aim for the big fuel tank on his back – hitting it deals crit damage and can trigger a blast that stuns him. His attacks are mostly wide flame sweeps and a nasty ground slam that sends a wave of fire across the arena. Corrosive weapons chew through his armour fast, and if his shield bar pops back up mid-fight, switch to shock to drop it again.
For farming, set your Chaos Tier as high as you can handle. Higher tiers mean better drop rates and more chance of getting those sweet anointments. The loop’s simple – load in, fast travel to Cinder-Vein Ascent, run to the arena, drop Gragnok, check the loot. Didn’t get the Hot Slugger or rolled a dud? Quit to menu, reload, and go again. Keep an eye out for anointments that boost splash damage or add extra elemental damage after using your action skill – those turn the Hot Slugger from strong into ridiculous.
If you’re already stacking gear or looking to boost your build with Borderlands 4 Items for sale, this farm is one of the most efficient ways to get a weapon that can carry you through late-game chaos.
